OUR PROJECTS

In collaboration with GPS Academy Great Neck, Long Island Scholars has co-founded

two teen-led extracurricular projects to help students bolster their career readiness and leadership skills:

  • Project Beacon, a peer mentoring program; and

Co-founding, leading, and building these programs with us, students gain skills, experience, and volunteer hours.

Long Island Scholars is also a certifying organization

for the President's Volunteer Service Award,

which recognizes the contributions of our student volunteers.

Finally, we run an approved TED-Ed Student Talks program, guiding students

in developing, delivering, rehearsing, and recording TED Talks on topics of their own choosing.

Student TED Talks are uploaded to TED-Ed's Youtube channel;

students can then share links to their Talks on their resumes and applications.

Contact us to find out how you can get involved in these initiatives as a volunteer participant or student leader!
